The following blurb is from the announcement of the 2012 ACS SA & NT Excellence Awards and might be of interest to you. It was from the news item posted on ECH’s website news page.
“The Media Award “recognises an individual or organisation whose efforts result in the positive portrayal of older people, and/or aged and community care services to the broader community”. ECH received the award for the substantial mainstream media coverage received for the Also A Mirror theatre collaboration between ECH and the Urban Myth Theatre for Youth which “was able to shine a light on the issues surrounding memory loss for the general community and in particular young people,” said host Xavier Minniecon who presented the awards.”
Also a Mirror has won:
- 2011 Every Generation Positive Ageing Awards: Every Generation Creative Arts Award
- 2012 ACS SA & NT Awards for Excellence: Media Award
- 2012 International Dementia Excellence Awards: Dementia and the Arts
They have only entered Also a Mirror into these three awards, and it has won its category in every award in which it has been entered which is no mean achievement! CONGRATULATIONS.

The documentary and the play are wonderful tributes to the people with dementia who shared their stories with us, the young cast and all the artists involved in the stage play and translation of the stage play into a radio play.
You can still to listen to the Radio National play version of Also A Mirror, and post your comments. This last point is imperative, as the life of radio plays is in jeopardy!!
well done everyone!
