A friend and colleague of mine sent me some advice this morning, which I want to share a modified version of it here., as it is very relevant to new organisations, and especially so for those organisations operating at the global level, relying on technology to support all meetings and events. his is a precise of what he said:
Before being diagnosed with dementia, I was an organization development consultant and much of my work dealt with team formation and processes especially high performing teams. It is a normal progression of team formation and performance.
Most (if not all) are familiar with the Forming, STORMING, Norming, and Performing model of team processes.
Thus ALL new teams go through a similar experience.
Being separated by large geographical and cultural differences makes this situation more complex, as it does when the members of the group are living with varying disabilities especially cognitive ones including memory loss and executive functioning.
When an organisation is growing rapidly, managing the process of rapid growth of an organization is difficult under the best of circumstances.
The key to an organisation getting through the STORMING stage successfully is to remember we are all in the same boat with the same vision for the organisation, and all want to lead the organisation to accomplish its mission.
