Yesterday I was sitting at home being filmed by the crew from the ABC TV 7.30 Report, having been interviewed by Michael Sexton with Jodi my lovely carer looking on, spurring me on with her ever-present love and support. Hers is a story I want to tell, to make sure she doesn’t burn out… The Big Issue is one of my causes, and this is my latest one, a story (when we write it!) that I hope will be published in that magazine. I love writing, and am
excited about blogging 50,000 words in November, Will I tell the story of murder and alcoholism, or the story of the kid in the room full of horse shit??? So many questions, too many ideas, not enough focus yet. Perhaps the 50,000 words will come easily, who knows who cares. I may never remember writing them, but my trusty little pc will remind me. The point of the goal is to give it my best shot. It also seems I’d rather be anywhere other than
sitting here, having this conversation, with cameras rolling…
So this is what I wrote when the cameras were rolling because the crew wanted a scene of me doing one of my daily activities. I’ve not edited it, and decided to get it out there as a practice run for the big write in November! The story will go to air on Thursday 13th October, the day of the Fight Dementia National Campaign march in Canberra that I’m attending and speaking at. See you there!

That all sounds exciting Kate – will put the 13th in my calendar and set the recorder to capture that 7.30 Report. I’m looking forward to your ‘attempt on Everest’ 2011 as you go for the 50k words – maybe I will be inspired to get on board next year. I’m just drafting my next Word of the Week offering – inspired by you – have a look for it Monday a.m. Cheers oo
