Just for something different… I am feeling confused about the Discussion Page I added a few weeks ago!!! I set it up to make it easier for me to track everyone’s comments. I’m delighted people are talking to me on that page, but now I’m not so sure it works for me! Some days, the dementia just gets in the way of ‘easy’ or of ‘understanding or finding my way around’ at all. Oh well, I’ll leave it up to you. Leave a comment relating to a blog on the reply section of the blog, or on the Discussion Page. One way or another, I’m sure I’ll eventually find it!! Whatever words you use, wherever you write them, they are meaningful to me, and I thank you for your interest in my blog and for your contribution to my life. WordPress and blogging has opened up my world in ways that were completely unexpected and is helping me determine my future more, and to understand the power of words more than I ever imagined possible.
The phrase I added to my Blog site header Creating life with words sounded right when I wrote it, but now I more fully understand what it is I was trying to say. This conversation has reminded me of the Extraordinary and amazing Robyn Moore (http://www.thepoweroftheword.com.au/) who has helped my soul with her empowering conversations. She continues to change lives, with words. The CEO of the Port Lincoln Health Services said, “Robyn has equipped us with tools to change the way we think. None of this “think positively and you can do anything stuff.” Robyn has the ability to get to her audience’s souls. She showed us how we can empower ourselves to enjoy our work, deal with conflict and enhance our lives, both inside and outside work.”
I have heard Robyn speak twice this year, and most of all I am inspired to be a better person by her Extraordinary persona, but also by her words and the love she so openly shares. Writing and speaking out has brought me conversations that have followed with open and generous words of praise and encouragement. The email below followed my WordCamp Gold Coast presentation, which along with your feedback and cheering is helping me realise my most important goals of all, that of helping myself and others to love more, and in some small way, move our world. Sent: Sunday, 6 November 2011 – Hi Kate, Thank you for the most moving talk I have ever experienced! There was no better way to start a WordCamp :-)… Cheers, Chris 🙂 After the torment of doubt that followed my presentation, of whether anyone gained anything positive or useful, and wondering if it was worthwhile at all, came this gift of gleaming sunshine in the shape of words, brushing away my misgivings. Thank you Chris!
Words are incredibly potent, and can be used in ways that are empowering and uplifting. Conversely, they can also be used to hurt and demoralise others, or to avoid the reality of our world; it is so easy to use words to say you will do something or love someone loyally, then do the opposite, or do nothing at all. My intention is for my words to say what I mean, and my actions to follow the truth of my words. This concept is daunting at any time in life, but living with dementia, it is especially challenging as word loss, word finding, word recognition and word meaning are all so difficult. Words and the dyslexia-like symptoms that are part of my life now do not make a wonderful and happy union, and my words, no matter how long it takes me to find them have become imperative to the continuing creation of my life!
