The Conscious Clinician Collective

Recently, I started to become interested in the work of a psychologist, Dr Roger McFillin, and after listening to multiple Radically Genuine podcasts and interviews and reading his posts on social media, decided to join the Conscious Clinician Collective.

This initiative is open to everyone, not only clinicians. That is, anyone with an interest in how people are being harmed by many of the drugs prescribed to them by psychiatrists and other doctors.

Anyone who supported my #BanBPSD campaigns will find it of great interest.

This topic is extremely relevant to people with dementia, who have been given harmful labels for what are mostly, normal human responses to a critical illness, poor care, violations of their rights, and abuse.

These normal human responses were labelled as neuropsychiatric symptoms decades ago, by well meaning psychiatrists, with the umbrella term of ‘Behavioural and Psychological Responses to Dementias (BPSD). This initiaive was funded, of course, by a large pharmaceutical company, Johnson & Johnson… It is not a surprise that when scientists and BigPharma have not found a drug cure or disease modifying drug treatment for dementia, they find other justifiable reasons (to them) to medicate.

Antipsychotics in particular, and now also benzodiazepenes, anti histamines, sedatives and other mind altering drugs have been used as a form of chemical restraint, especially for those people with dementia living in residential care.

Please think about it, and if you believe many of us with – and without dementia are being prescribed harmful drugs, most often without adeqate warnings, then consider joining this important collective.
