On today’s blog I have added a beautiful poem I was privileged to read some time ago, already shared on my Conversations and Recipes Page, but I felt worthy of adding here. It was written by someone called Anna Pye, and sprang from a community project in Adelaide called The Cosy Club inspired by a wonderful woman called Barbara, a club that meets the needs of women who live alone and are otherwise quite isolated. I think is also talking about what we are doing here on my blog. I once thought face to face contact was the true way to communicate, and I still prefer it for topics that are delicate or too personal, for example, I think it is cruel to break up a relationship with a text message or on a blog or Facebook. However I do feel others ways of communicating such as blogging, poetry, art and email, and social media like Facebook and twitter are wonderful ways to reach out to each other. With some people, it is the only way to connect any more, as talking in real-time on phones or over coffee almost seems to be a thing of the past for them. We are now so connected, and yet at the same time so disconnected, and I wonder how many lonely people are out there, looking into flat screens, waiting for someone to show them love with a real hug.
Inclusion (written by Anna Pye)
What if the world is interconnected
A community tea party
Where we share our stories,
Where we knit, I sip
You weave, I write
You draw and I build
And together
We create a luminescent world of joy
And care
You and me glowing, sipping tea.

Such a lovely sentiment written by Anna Pye. Something I worry about; all the lonely people out there and one day will I join them, and hoping I am stronger than I think.
