Brené Browns TED talk… The Power of Vulnerability

Reading J.A. Hennrikus blog today, I was directed to this wonderful TED talk The Power of Vulnerability by Brené Brown. You will do yourself a favour if you watch it. She talks about vulnerability, shame, authenticity, wholeheartedness and many other things, and her research has taken her on her own very personal journey, which she shares with love, humour and humility. Many of the things she talks about I have been striving for, and my blog definitely comes under the umbrella of vulnerability because of its raw content. I’m very happy about that, even though occasionally it hurts when someone takes me to task on something I have written or implied. A few other bloggers have felt the pain of a follower objecting or disputing something they have written, and so sharing Brené’s TED talk felt the right thing to do on my blog today… even though I shared a link yesterday! It might seem a little lazy to re-blog again today, but she is worth it! She stated once in her talk that it is what it is, and this statement is something my dear husband and I have been saying to each other for many years. Living with the symptoms of younger onset dementia is teaching us to live without fear, to accept daily it is what it is, and to remember we live until we die. And so, we had all better get on with living as authentically and wholeheartedly as we possibly can.
