In October 2011, someone wrote to me via email, and mentioned I must be thrilled to have 16 followers. I had no idea where my blog was heading, as now I have 319 comments on my Conversations and Recipes page, have written and published 290 posts, of which there has been over 1200 comments. As of today there are 308 official followers (thank you), as well as comments being made on Facebook, and occasionally on Twitter. I started my blog with its first post on 27 August 2011, and started a goal to blog daily on 2 September, so in 280 days, I have published 290 blogs. I’m doing these pointless calculations, merely to stretch my brain plasticity today, but also because I have no idea today what to write about!! It has been interesting to see the figures. Lots of days it is like this, what will I write about? Most often, I write about what it is like living with dementia, and have found a lot of global friends in what I call the global dementia community. Through this community, I have ‘met’ a woman called Kay Bransford and she is caring for parents with dementia sharing her experience on her blog called Dealing with dementia. As we have commented on each other’s blog, and following a question she sent to me via my contact form, I had this random idea (yes, another one!!) for us to start another blog, as a conversation between someone loving and caring for people living with dementia, and someone living with dementia. It is in progress thanks to her website support person, and is to be called The Dementia Dialogue. It will be a conversation between us, which you can join in with if you have a point of view to share, or want to comment on our conversations, ideas and perceptions. It will I suspect, be far more personal than our blogs already are, and as there are days when we both scratch our heads wondering what to think or how to behave, we hope to be able to salve the itch for each other. My blog is short today as we have much do get done before we go to New Zealand tomorrow, but I want to thank my online global friends for the support, the occasional devil’s advocacy which makes me think more deeply, and for your love. What we can’t do alone, we can do together; the dementia train for those with dementia or caring for someone they love with dementia can be very lonely, and this support makes a world of difference to the ride.

Hi,
Thank you for having this kind of community. i work for a company that does health research and clinical trials in North America and understanding what topics and thoughts are of interest to this community is helpful. Thank you.

What a great idea, and the same sort of “dialogue” blog can be applied to so many issues in life. Truly brilliant.
