Transcendental Meditation (TM) has been a part of my daily life since 1979, and I find it has been the one constant that always helps me to relax deeply. It has been said that 20 minutes of TM is the equivalent to 2 hours of deep sleep, and as I have survived on less sleep that most people I know, then I guess this could be the reason why. What is Transcendental Meditation? ‘The Transcendental Meditation® (TM) technique is a simple, natural, effortless process practiced 15-20 minutes twice daily while sitting comfortably with eyes closed. It is unique among techniques of meditation, distinguished by its effortlessness, naturalness and profound effectiveness. The TM technique allows your mind to settle inward, beyond thought, to experience the silent reservoir of energy, creativity and intelligence found within everyone – a natural state of restful alertness. During the practice, your brain functions with significantly greater coherence and your body gains deep rest.’ TM was featured on Catalyst and this interview also offers more insights. I’ve been using Ayurvedic medicine for about a year, as a way of assisting the symptoms of dementia, and have found it useful; this research article Ayurvedic medicinal plants for Alzheimer’s disease a review offers more information. As always, there is so much information out there about absolutely everything; I feel blessed to be able to access the internet and research sites to open my mind. Not everything I read about do I agree with, or useful, but it is always interesting!

that is a great idea kate, thankyou.

Charles and I could do with some of this as we are both struggling a little with lack of sleep. Charles wondered if a liquid made from cabernet grapes could be considered a Ayurvedic medical plant. Love you.

I used to do Yoga, but stick to Pilates and stretching, as per the regime set up by my Neurophysiotherapist. TM is a forever technique for me, even if it means doing it in the car sometimes! xo
