Juggling demo

As I practice my juggling to help the symptoms of dementia, I regularly watch this brilliant juggler to give myself something to work towards!

  1. btw, I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but if you read that article carefully (on your previous blog about juggling and the brain) it does not in any way suggest that juggling will help slow dementia – it just shows that we can grow new neurons by exercising the pertinent area of the brain. They chose juggling because it was a complex skill that a lot of people haven’t tried before. “The changes were in regions of the brain which are involved in reaching and grasping in the periphery of vision, so that seems to make a lot of sense.” The implication of course is great for all of us – if you want to develop your brain you can, by exercising the relevant area. So keep juggling because it is heaps of fun and a good party trick, but maybe if you want to slow dementia your exercises might more productively be in the areas related to language and memory?

    • :You’re not raining on my parade at all… I hadn’t picked that up, so thanks. I already do lots of ‘brain plasticity exercises’ focused on the language and memory areas too, the juggling is worth keeping in the mix as it is hilariously good fun!!Happy with any ‘new’ neurons. xx
