Lately, there are more days when the symptoms of dementia are getting in the way and I am lost for words, and find the writing of my blog more challenging than even a few weeks ago. Will I stop, or give up? I can’t see that happening yet! Whenever the words escape me, I’ll simply I take on the NaNoWriMo style of writing, and just write anything; in a sense force myself to sit here and type what eventually comes into my head. The discipline of writing something – anything – is a good one, and since I’ve adopted it, following my personal goal to post a blog every day over 12 months ago, and since participating in NaNoWriMo 2011, the habit has been set and seems to be working.
Anyway, I forgot to celebrate my 1st birthday of blogging on 2 September 2012, so today is a belated happy birthday to me blog!! I rang a very special girlfriend (VG) in Queensland this morning for her birthday, and it made me think about how I’d forgotten this one!! Such is life, as long as it keeps going and I am here to celebrate my 2nd blog birthday. Make sure you remind me… someone – anyone!! It would be great if I could organise a bloggers party, get all the bloggers whose blogs I love reading together somewhere in the world. To actually meet some of you, I think would be truly wonderful. One blogger I had been following has stopped blogging since May, and I really miss her beautifully translated French recipes. One other blogger posted something today, her first in what felt like months, and it was delightful to receive her post in my Inbox this morning.
It’s a weird thing, but it is almost like getting a hand written letter from a friend, the one beautiful personal link slowly disappearing from our high tech world. Mostly birthdays and other celebrations are celebrated with an email or online card, occasionally with an actual conversation like the one I had this morning, but even this is becoming quite rare. I’ve decided to make an effort and send Christmas cards again this year, something I have not done for a couple of years, but had done every single year since leaving home. When the boys were home, we all signed our own names, and our family and friends loved this more personal touch. A family photo might have to be added this year, if I can just get them to sit still long enough!!!

Kate dear,
I mistakenly deleted your email to me after our meeting with the kids last Sunday. I really want to see it, so would you re-send it please? Bought * Flourish* on Sat with Nola and am lookiing forward to hunkering down with it and throwing some set opinions out the window.
Much love,
Denny

Happy Blog Birthday Kate. I miss the French recipes, too. And I love the idea of sending out real cards this year – I think I will do the same (I stopped in 2003). I’ll have to find my address book. 🙂
I love your blog. I don’t comment every time or read every post like I used to, but I do read it and value the wisdom you have to share with us.

It’s an admirable thing you’ve started here, for yourself and for others who take encouragement from your own accomplishment. I know how hard it is to keep writing every day; unfortunately there are days when work or other things get in the way. But do remember that several “authorities” say that regular mental exercise does delay the progress of dementia. By the way, if Australia wasn’t on the other side of the globe, I would love to meet you one day.

Congratulations on your first year of blogging! As a very poor blogger myself I am constantly impressed by the quality of your daily posts (especially considering the quantity). Keep it up and make sure there is a second year to celebrate!

She dutifully plays the part of our lunch lady whenever I have a few mates around to work on a big project for the day. Brave.. hmm.. I hope not, that word invokes the same connotations for a renovator as it does a politician.. The house looks significantly different now (at least on the outside). I’ll try to flick you a photo across today.

Hello, never, never give us…just change the plan. It isn’t necessarily just the quality and quantity of your outputs, It is the quality and quantity of their inputs into your mind and heart.
Don’t be miserable trying to be happy!
Write/publish everyother day or once a week or once every blue moon. You attention an focus don’t have to be on typing and writing. You just need new purpose to your life for a while. Do some things out of doors, do some things in doors. Cook more, and yes, you knew this was coming, have more sex, more conversations with friends and your lover. Train a dog, build a tree house. Volunteer somewhere five times a week. Keep your hands, heart and mind busy and contented and you will have found a new, useful, and healthy purpose.

Thanks my friend, all very good advice. And I’m doubtful about allowing it up here in case my dear husband reads the bit about more sex!!!
