Dementia Alliance International

DAI 1260 x 240

Introducing Dementia Alliance International, a new group of people with dementia from the USA, Canada, Australia and other countries that I have been involved in setting up. We seek to represent, support, and educate others living with the disease. It is a work in progress, with much work to do on the website, and other things like videos. My lovely husband has kindly created a logo for us, thank you. Regardless of all the work still to do, we all have the vision, passion and a lot of talent to give a voice to people with dementia, a group of by, and for people with dementia.

Our first major project is to raise funds for people with dementia to attend the Alzheimer’s Disease International conference in Puerto Rico in May this year.

For more information or to discuss your contribution, please contact Laura Bowley at laura@mindsetmemory.com or Marc Wortmann, Executive Director of ADI at m.wortmann@alz.co.uk We have also set up a fundraising site Dementia Alliance 2014 specifically for the conference this year. 2. Congratulate Peter on the great logo …… really good 🙂

Is this the only organisation that has people with dementia as it’s organisers etc?

you might like to quickly answer this question in another blog post ……. thanks 🙂

    • As far as we know, but there are small groups in regions or cities, but I’m not sure if their members all have dementia or not. I’ll pass on your congratulations to Peter too!

  3. Kate, you might be aware of this but there is a committed group fighting for people with dementia in Sri Lanka. I had the pleasure of talking to the person running the group when I was over there three years ago. I’d be happy to put you in touch.

  4. Peter and you have done a tremendous job in the initial phases of development for DAI. We are definitely headed towards realizing our goal of having an organization by people with dementia. I look forward to our bright future together.

    • Thank you Janet… it truly is a very exciting time. I had not told Peter about ADI supporting us, and he was really thrilled. There is NO going back now for any organisation not to include us. 🙂

The only thing missing in this global conversation is YOUR voice... Thank you.
