A friend of mine, Leonnie Blumsen who I was at the University of South Australia with many years ago when we were both studying an undergraduate Bachelor of Psychology degree, is actively involved in working for Peace, and is soon hosting an event to mark International Day of Peace. The event aims to highlight the role that organised women play in advancing these ideals into the light as women’s work is too often confined to the sidelines or hidden from view. This event is perhaps my first major step in bringing this knowledge into the mainstream. To be held in Adelaide soon, it is her ‘brainchild’, and highlights her interests in peace and conflict resolution, social justice, human rights and gender equality issues.

Key representatives from Business & Professional Women International, Soroptimist International, Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom, and YWCA will come together to speak about their organisations, their aims and objectives, and the work their women members do to build justice and peace, human rights, gender equality, and women’s empowerment at the local (grassroots), national, and international levels.

Wonderful.
Rotary has a Rotarian Action Group for Peace, to which I belong, and I’m sure that there will be many great activities happening all around the World. I think I have taken my eye off the ball and hadn’t realised that it was so close. Thank you for bringing me back into the moment.
