‘Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone’
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone, Silence the pianos and with muffled drum Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead, Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves, Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves. He was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song; I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong. The stars are not wanted now: put out every one; Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun; Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood; For nothing now can ever come to any good. W H Auden
To my sweet Mr Boris,
Rest In Peace my beautiful boy.
You’ve been my rock, my best buddy, and have offered me unconditional love and companionship. It has been even more so since our other cat Star left us.
I will miss you forever.
Broken hearted…

Every condolence Kate. So very sad to lose a member of your family, and our animals leave us with lovely memories, but a gaping hole. I send healing for you and your loved ones.

I am so very sorry to hear that your handsome Mr Boris is no longer with you. Words are really inadequate to express all that you must be experiencing at this time. Sending hugs and hoping you can be very gentle with yourself at this time.

Awe Kate,
I’m so sorry to hear this. Our animal friends are so precious & loving. No words can express what they mean to us or the hole they leave in our hearts. May your beautiful kitty rest in peace x x

I was so saddened to read this post. The words of Auden are so meaningful for too me as my mother died of pneumonia complicated by Alzheimer’s two days ago. I had been caring for her alone for four years and spent the last weeks in a hospital room with her sleeping in a spare bed provided by the staff. I was so privileged during lockdown to be able to share her last days on earth. Whether we lose a relative, friend or a devoted animal the pain is harrowing.
Thinking of you at this time

Dear Kate – so sorry for your loss!
Every day I remember my beloved animal friends – horses, dogs, cats and even a pair of lovebirds – who have crossed the rainbow bridge, and I still talk to them, before I fall asleep, every night, it’s a ritual … and sometimes I meet them in my dreams. I imagine, together with Alex, they still watch over me.
