Leaders who understand that leading others is a privilege also understand that leading is first and foremost about service. Being the leader means that you have been placed in a position to serve others; it has nothing to do with you.
Real leaders forget about themselves and instinctively react in their team’s best interest.
It’s why I am of the firm belief we can’t walk away from any leadership role without providing adequate notice to those we serve, except in truly exceptional circumstances, and to do so, does those others harm. No matter how right it is for us personally, if it harms others, then it’s probably not the right decision for anyone, including ourselves.
Footnote: there are obviously exceptions to this, such as domestic violence or death.

Dearest Kate, So true! Fondly, Michael

Very much agree Kate. As a leader my responsibility is to my team. I have attended many conferences etc on leadership and the most valuable was by an Australia lady Rachel Robins- Leading on the edge, worth a google if you have time. She calls herself an accidental leader as I do🤣. She says leadership is being willing to give away the credit when things succeed and taking all the responsibility when things go wrong.
We can all lead even without a title to give us permission to do so.

Hear hear, Kate. I totally agree. Leadership is the ability to put one’s own personal desires on the back burner for the greater good xxx
