I’m pleased to share that the Dementia Justice website, which had to be closed down in October, is now being hosted with its own page on my personal website.
This research project is the one of two which I am currently the most proud to have been involved in, as well as working alongside Professor Linda Steele from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), a colleague and friend. Linda’s work is incredible, and her capacity to take on additional projects besides her teaching load at UTS is enviable! The second one I’m also very proud of is the dementia rehabilitation project.
Tragically, and disappointingly, the systemic and persistent harms still being experienced by many people with dementia and their families and/or care partners, especially those in receipt of residential or community care, is appalling, and everyone should be up in arms about it. When you consider the reporting by our media, it appears to me that issues such as the need for Banking Royal Commission are still far more intesting than abuse and neglect in aged care.
You can still learn about our project here, as well as download our publications, most of which are open access. The blogs written for this site are also still available, apart from those asking for people to regisgter their interest in participating in the research.
Ps. The image I’ve used today, highlighting a film about reparations highlights the issues of history repeating itself, while all sorts of harm continues.
