Fight Dementia rally speech

I have just uploaded my Fight Dementia rally speech onto YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgPVzT33UZQ

Watching it forces me to jump out of my bubble of denial for a few moments, to remember it is me and my family this is happening to. I stay busy and focused on things other than dementia, and there are many moments in my days when I choose to ignore what is happening. This video brings it right home, back into my lap with an almighty thud, forcing me to feel the sadness and the fear. But it also makes me feel proud, as I am speaking out as an activist for policy change to increase funding, public awareness and attitudes, to help remove the stigma, and importantly, as an advocate for those who can’t.

  1. Watched your speech last night, Kate, and your speech was just brilliant-good on you! You are so brave and one of the most courageous woman i know. You have also reminded me the importance of speaking out and being drastic, as otherwise nothing will change, so thank you for that-i will definetly be speaking up to my Grandma about getting more home help-something i haven’t done in the past year but should do more often so something can change-a powerful message, Kate.
