The liberative power of blogging

What I write is merely what I am thinking at a given moment, my opinion or thought or feeling about something at a particular time. It is fluid, and may change, even a moment or an hour later. You may agree with it, or disagree. You may care, or not care, but if you read it, you will probably have thought something about it. Some of you will  share your reflections and reactions with me here, or in other ways, and they are valuable for many reasons. If you disagree with what I have written, or have another point of view, this helps me to jump out of my own square, even if I find it uncomfortable.

The good, the bad and even the downright ugly responses provide a richer environment for thought, and I believe are invaluable to this forum. If you agree with me, of course this is also valuable, and, it is always pleasant to be agreed with! All responses and reactions encourage me to keep thinking and writing. Sometimes there are messages that are not supportive of the way I choose to live my life and share my journey. Does this matter, and is the hurt it can cause helpful. I believe it is useful and helpful, as it challenges me to think about things differently.

It may not mean I will change anything I am doing, writing or thinking, but as always, there are other ways to see things. And if it hurts, it is only because that is the way I have chosen to react, not the fault ot the message bearer. It is after all, only someone else’s opinion! I will keep thinking and blogging while I still can, and encourage all bloggers to do the same., regardless of if their responders are good, bad or ugly. It is a truly liberating experience, at least for me.

Note: Aaarrrrgghhhhh… this was yesterdays blog, which for some reason I didn’t publish properly so it looks as if I missed a day!! Oh well, no-one died because of it, and it just means there will be 2 blogs posted today.

  1. Kate – I’ve never read anything on your blog that I don’t understand or don’t agree with. Everything you say is very logical and I can tell it’s been well thought out. Having said that, I can understand what you have said, especially about how some of your thoughts can change over time ….

    It’s a great blog Kate – you should be proud 🙂 🙂

  2. Refreshing for someone to want a discussion that respects other people’s opinions oh our politicians could learn from that instead of marginalising any body with an opposing opinion.
