“Take the time to really listen to the elders in your family by asking them about their childhood holidays and what traditions and/or special moments they enjoyed.

You can start a tradition by having the family sit down and each shares a favorite moment they had on a past holiday or what each person is grateful for this holiday. Check on elderly loved ones who may be far away or unable to travel to holiday functions, and elderly neighbors.  Many sit home alone without a special meal or any socialization.  Just dropping by with a meal or special dessert can bring more joy than you can imagine!

A phone call to check on a distant loved one to wish them a Merry Christmas or thoughts of love can not only brighten their day, but brighten the whole week!”
