A bright idea…

idea“Just do 10 minutes if you don’t feel like training and you will find you rarely only do the 10 minutes”

Apply this to anything you find difficulty doing, and I’m sure it will work. You will find yourself doing more than the 10 minutes, and get some of those tedious jobs [like tidying my office!!!] or that daily exercise not only started, but done.

And for you writers or ‘wanna be writers’ out there, this technique really applies to writing. Just get started, commit to 10 minutes, and I guarantee you’ll be tapping that keyboard much longer than 10 minutes, especially if you apply the NaNoWriMo technique to start with.

Too often we say we need more motivation… we don’t have time… we’re too busy… we’ll start tomorrow or next week… As Nike aptly says; Just do it!

Ps. This tip was posted on a friends blog a few days ago, and she’d heard it said by someone else, so I don’t have the author for the tip, but thanks RV.

  1. I’ve subscribed to Flylady.com for some time now. One of their tips is to spend just 15 minutes de-cluttering or doing some other sort of cleaning. I find that 15 minutes here and 15 minutes there, and the job gets done.

  2. Great idea….It is always about getting started. Therein lies the obstacle…If you can just get going you usually end up continuing. Thanks for sharing! VK 🙂

  3. This does work. I sometimes use it to motivate myself to clean off the mess on my desk. I may not get it wll done, but usuallly work a lot more than 10 minutes on it. I might start while waiting for a phone call or something where I don’t teel I have a lot of time to do a real project. I get more done than I expected and that always feels good.

  4. After weeks of slothfulness, I’m prepared to spend 10 mins scrubbing the carpet or ironing — should qualify me for next Pope; just want those Gucci slippers!

  5. I hop on my laptop just to start a post, figuring I’ll finish it during my quiet time of 4am. I usually wind up putting in a good half hour before I’m dragged away by daily duties. So, yes, 10 minutes is a good goal!
