It seems this might be the simplest communication tip there is, not just for being and communicating with people with dementia, but for being and communicating with everyone. It is a very good lesson, and one I am glad I was reminded of yesterday.
So whenever you feel like treating someone badly, or unkindly, or just giving them a piece of your mind if you are unhappy about something, do try to remember, they (and you) will never be the same again.
Our words do matter and language is powerful, so if you have to tell someone they have hurt you, or you are unhappy about something, be careful how you do it. This graphic reminded me I have not always been so thoughtful when telling others I am not happy about something.
Other than sorry, all I can say is I will try harder…
