The alternative to being kind is not an option

For most of my life, I have questioned almost everything, even things I felt sure of, and  have always strived to be kind, even to unkind people. Too often probably, I have given of myself too openly, and to people who have hurt me, more than once. That may make me stupid, or simply that I forgive easily. For my own life, I still want to focus on love, and forgiveness, and to take people at face value.

Someone said to me a few days ago ‘you are very kind.’
My response was that ‘The alternative to that, is not for me’.

I’ve been around mean people and they’re not pleasant to be around, not do I want to be like them. 

Thankfully, or hopefully, I have learned to move away from the truly unkind people who have consistently bullied, abused, harmed or betrayed me… and I will continue to question most things!
