The home straight…

Racing to the finish lineWhilst I did not complete the NaNoWriMo challenge in November this year, I have been working on Kick off 2012 with Project 366, a challenge thrown out to bloggers using WordPress in December last year. The challenge was to write a new blog for every day in 2012. I didn’t create a new blog, but a new page on this site, which evolved into a chat with friends in my ‘global kitchen’, with a recipe being added every day since January 28th. It pushed me to set up my new recipe blog, In The Kitchen where I am transferring and cataloguing all the recipes from this site to make them easy to find.

So… hats on girls and waistcoats on boys, and get the champers ready as I have 3 days to go to complete it! It is not the same excitement as having written 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo last year as that was a similar effort, but packed into 30 days and a few of you cheered me on in spectacular fashion from the sidelines especially in that last week. I have had two global friends doing this on a very regular basis for most of 2012 for Project 366, and they are still with me as I race to the end of the year… I’d love for you to join them there for the last three days.

There have been many obstacles put in my way this last year, not just caused by the symptoms of dementia, and often the only way to achieve a goal is to be very self motivated. This particular race was a one horse race, as I have no idea who else has been doing it, so it has really helped having others around me loving and supporting me, pushing me onwards and upwards to make it to the finish line. One of my little mantras in my volunteering groups has always been, ‘What we can’t do alone, we can do together’, and it can be applied to this race, as having others to motivate me has often been the only reason I have kept going. 🙂

  1. I LOVE your recipes which are elegant and delicious; and I’ve never had one fail. I salute your incredible determination and your ability to be honest about how you are doing. There’s no bs but by god a hell of a lot of effort!

  2. 3 days is nothing when you’ve already done over 300 🙂

So will there be any celebrating?

Are you going to treat yourself to something?

If it involves eating or drinking something, can you get hubby to take a photo of you celebrating and you can post it as your first blog post for 2013, whenever that will be 🙂 🙂
