This is a study currently being conducted by the Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) Institute, and I am sharing here today to assist them to find more Australians willing to participate in the study. I don’t share too many research opportunities here, but anything to do with wellbeing and personal choice is definitely important to me.
“Dementia is a growing area of concern both in Australia and Internationally. Currently, about 298,000 people in Australia have a diagnosis of dementia. This estimate is expected to triple in the next 35 years.
The RDNS Institute is conducting a project which is looking at the balance between risk and safety when caring for people with dementia. As part of the project a tool which helps family, carers, clients and staff negotiating this risk will be created and tested.
Who can take part?
We are looking for 3 groups of people to take part:
- People diagnosed with dementia
- Carers of people diagnosed with dementia, and
- Older people living in the community without the assistance of services
What is involved?
Participation in the study will involve chatting with a researcher about an hour. This interview will take place at a time and location that is convenient for you.
How can I take part?

‘Happy Landings’ as my dear dad would have said. I hope your experience of London is better than mine was on Sunday.
